Birthdays
I love birthdays, and we love to celebrate in our class! On your child's birthday, please feel free to bring in an easy/individually portioned snack (cookies, cupcakes, popsicles, etc.) for the class to share. Small plates or napkins for serving are also helpful.
There is also a CKS tradition of allowing the birthday boy or girl (and a friend of their choosing) to spend a few minutes of the day bringing the left overs of these snack items to some other teachers...and getting a couple small prizes in return! So don't be worried if you had to make 2 dozen of something to accommodate our whole class...you will likely not be going home with extras! ;)
If your child has a birthday during the school year and you are planning a party, we ask that you only pass out invitations at school if the entire class is invited, or to only the students of your child's gender. Otherwise, please mail them out from home.

Snack
There is a scheduled snack time every morning. Students should bring their own nutritious snack to school. Please do not bring candy...even for lunch time. If your child has chips or cookies, they may not be eaten during snack time, but they are more than welcome to have them as part of their meal at lunch.
Please make sure that your child comes to school with a water bottle every day.

Lunch
Lunch is served in the gym. Each day, your child has the options of hot lunch, deli sandwich, or sun butter and jelly sandwich, if they are not a home lunch. Students who go through the school lunch line will also choose a fruit and vegetable from the salad bar, and be given their choice of chocolate or white milk. It is very important that your child comes to school knowing what he/she is having for lunch. Students will come in and make their lunch choice in the morning using our number system. If they don't know what they are having for lunch, that creates a lot of confusion in the morning and at lunch time. Additionally, if they are signed up for the wrong choice, it can often cause problems with how many portions are made in the kitchen.
Please make sure to add money to your child's lunch account at the office or online. We ask that you do not send your child in with cash for their lunch.
