Drop Off
In the mornings, drop offs should be completed in the top parking lot. Because the school and hallway is very busy and students have tasks to complete as soon as they get upstairs, it is a school policy that you do not accompany your student upstairs. This is also essential to making sure that the school is safe and secure, with only essential people in the hallways. If your child is coming in late, please help them check in at the office and leave them at the bottom of the stairs. We are teaching and encouraging both independence and autonomy, so allowing your child to transition into the school day on their own will help foster these things greatly.
If you have questions or concerns for me in the morning, please always feel free to send me an email or send your student with a note.
Students line up outside at 7:50, but you can begin dropping off at 7:30 at the upper parking lot. Students who arrive after 8:00 will be marked tardy and need to be brought to the office for a late slip.
Pick Up
Pick up is completed in the gym at the end of the day. Please make sure, again, that you are waiting for us in the gym, and not coming upstairs to find your child...even if you're up against a time crunch. We ask these things for the same reason as we ask them at morning drop off.
I am always happy to chat for a few minutes in the gym at the end of the day, or to set up a time to meet if you have questions or concerns you would like to address with me.
If your child is not picked up by 2:55, there will be a late fee. Please, whenever possibly, let us know if you are going to be late at pick up, just so we know in advance and can assure your kiddo that you are, in fact, on your way ;)
***Please note: your child can not leave my sight at pick up until we have reached our dismissal spot, they have told me you are here, I see you, and we say goodbye. This is simply because pick up is extremely hectic...there are a lot of people in one space and it is still my responsibility to make sure that I have all of the students I am meant to have, and that I have them safely where (and with whom) they need to be. Because I am still trying to make this a norm, you will see me ask your child to come back and join our group if they have already left to find you on their own. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes since you *finally* have your kiddo back in all the chaos, but I thank you in advance for understanding and helping me out with this!***
