In my opinion, field trips are a great way to build community, expand on our curricular knowledge, and provide the kids with unique hands-on experiences. For this reason--and because I just love going on field trips--I have planned a field trip for every month. Typically, field trips will relate to our current (or a recently completed) Science or Social Studies unit, though there will be some exceptions. Regardless, all of our trips will relate back to something we have learned or are currently learning about in class.
I will send out permission slips for the trips a couple weeks in advance. These will include all pertinent information regarding what the day of the trip will look like, the cost of the trip (if any), and a request for parent drivers. Please make sure that the slips are filled out in completion by no later than the date indicated. If your child is going to be absent on the day of the trip and you know this in advance, please make sure you let us know as early as possibly. If you need assistance in paying for a trip, please don't hesitate to let me know!
If you're curious about upcoming field trips before permission slips are even sent out, keep checking back at the calendar link on the blog, as this will display all of our upcoming events so you can plan in advance!
Some (but not all!) of the field trips we hope to have this year include:
**Please note: parent drivers will receive volunteer hours for the duration of the trip. If you do chaperone, you will need to bring a copy of your driver's license and insurance card to the office.**
