Last month, we discussed Martin Luther King Jr. and the legacy he left behind him. The kids learned (in a broad way) about the limitations put on people because of their appearance. We talked about MLK Jr.'s vision for a world where color and creed made no difference...but one where people are judged only by "the content of their heart". As the kids know, this is the message we are taught every day at school and church here at CKS. So, putting all of our new and old knowledge together, we thought about our vision for the world and how how we hope to make it a better place. With that prompt in mind, the kiddos wrote how they will change the world "with their own two hands" and colored in hand prints. Then, each student helped me paint a poster for the bulletin board with their finger prints. It is a work of art and a work of LOVE!
The poem on the writing reads:
I can change the world
With my own two hands.
Make a better place
With my own two hands.
Make a kinder place
With my own two hands.
I can change the world
With my own two hands.
Make a better place
With my own two hands.
Make a kinder place
With my own two hands.
